About:

I specialise in film history, classical Hollywood cinema, critical race and postcolonial theories, Asian American studies and transnational cinemas. My work has appeared in Screen, Camera Obscura and the Women Film Pioneers Project. I am currently working on a book project on the interplay between the racial formations of the so-called 鈥淥rientals鈥 or the 鈥測ellow race鈥 and the multiplications of media technology in the first half of the twentieth century.听

I received my Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, where I taught film history and introduction to film studies. I have served as the managing editor for Feminist Media Histories and assistant editor for the Journal of Chinese Cinemas. Before Seattle, I studied for my MA at the University of Chicago and BA at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.听
