Sylvia Huot specialises in in medieval French literature. She is the author of听From Song to Book听(Cornell University Press, 1987);听The Romance of the Rose and its Medieval Readers听(CUP, 1993);听Allegorical Play in the Old French Motet听(Stanford University Press, 1997);听Madness in Medieval French Literature听(OUP, 2003);听Postcolonial Fictions in the Roman de Perceforest听(D.S. Brewer, 2007);听Dreams of Lovers and Lies of Poets: Poetry, Knowledge and Desire in the Roman de la Rose听(Legenda, 2010); and听Outsiders: The Humanity and Inhumanity of Giants in Medieval French Prose Romance听(University of Notre Dame Press, 2016).听She is also the co-editor of听Rethinking the Romance of the Rose听(University of Pennsylviania Press, 1992). She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2011.
