Sylvia Huot specialises in in medieval French literature. She is the author ofÌýFrom Song to BookÌý(Cornell University Press, 1987);ÌýThe Romance of the Rose and its Medieval ReadersÌý(CUP, 1993);ÌýAllegorical Play in the Old French MotetÌý(Stanford University Press, 1997);ÌýMadness in Medieval French LiteratureÌý(OUP, 2003);ÌýPostcolonial Fictions in the Roman de PerceforestÌý(D.S. Brewer, 2007);ÌýDreams of Lovers and Lies of Poets: Poetry, Knowledge and Desire in the Roman de la RoseÌý(Legenda, 2010); andÌýOutsiders: The Humanity and Inhumanity of Giants in Medieval French Prose RomanceÌý(University of Notre Dame Press, 2016).ÌýShe is also the co-editor ofÌýRethinking the Romance of the RoseÌý(University of Pennsylviania Press, 1992). She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2011.
