European Research Council Award

Isaac Newton Trust Grant

Dr Sanson was awarded an Isaac Newton Trust grant (2012)to carry out research on听'Conduct Literature for and about Women in Italy, 1500-1900: Prescribing and Describing Life'. From the sixteenth century onwards, with the diffusion of the printing press and the establishment of the vernacular as a language of culture, Italy saw a wide production of texts for and about women which aimed to define the nature of women, their role in society and their conduct in everyday life. This little-studied literary production, which is essential for the understanding of women's role in society across the centuries, is the focus of this research. Dr Francesco Lucioli was appointed to collaborate with Dr Sanson on the project between 1 October 2012 and 30 March 2013.

AHRC Network Grant

Prof Abigail Brundin was awarded an AHRC Network grant听under the theme 'Translating Cultures', for a project in collaboration with the National Trust, entitled: 'National Trust libraries: an untapped resource. A pilot study of Italian books at Belton House, Lincolnshire.
