Part IA

The Anthony Dorrell PrizeÌýwill be awarded annually by the Examiners for Part IA of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos for an outstanding performance in Russian in that examination. The value of the Prize will be approximately £70.

Part IB

The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Ukrainian Studies PrizeÌýis awarded annuallyÌýto markÌýan outstanding performance in the study of Ukraine at Part IB or Part II, as assessed in examination. The value of the Prize is £100.

Part II

The Olga Youhotsky, Catherine Matthews and Irene Gore PrizeÌýis awarded annually by the Examiners for Part II of the Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos for an outstanding performance in Russian in that examination. The value of the Prize is approximately £300.Ìý

The °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Ukrainian Studies PrizeÌýis awarded annually to mark anÌýoutstanding performance in the study of Ukraine at Part IB or Part II, as assessed in examination. The value of the Prize is £100.

The University of Warsaw Prize for Literary Translation

A competition for best literary translationÌýfrom PolishÌýinto English open to all students of . TheÌýentries are judged by an eminent Polish writer, and the winner is declared at the annual literary °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Polish Studies event in Lent Term at Sidney Sussex College. The main prizeÌýis a summer school course in Polish language and culture at theÌý,Ìýincluding flights, accommodation and board.ÌýThe prize is sponsored by the University of Warsaw under theÌýÌýbetween °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ and Warsaw.

FUNDS

The Robert Daglish FundÌýwas established 'for the encouragement of Russian studies' from a bequest from Mrs Inna Daglish in memory of her husband, a former student at Jesus. The purpose of the Fund is to 'make grants or loans to undergraduate members of the University to assist them in travelling to or in Russia in connection with their studies in the University'. Students who wish to apply for grants are required to complete an application form. The managers of the Fund have decided that the priority will be given to assist First-year students of Russian wishing to take approved Vacation courses in Russia.

Please request an application form from theÌýSlavonic Studies Office and submit it by 1 May.

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Ukrainian Studies Travel GrantsÌýare available to students in Papers SL2, SL 9 and SL 10 who wish to travel to Ukraine over the Christmas or Easter vacations to improve their Ukrainian language skills and explore Ukrainian culture and its cultural inheritance first-hand. Students specifically exploring Ukrainian language, history or culture through the framework of other Slavonic Section papers will also be considered.Ìý These are a select number of small grants primarily to help defray the cost of airfare to and from Ukraine.

°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Polish Studies Travel GrantsÌýare available to undergraduate and graduate students who wish to travel to Poland over the Christmas, Easter or Long vacations to improve their Polish language skills and explore contemporary Polish culture first-hand. These are a select number of small grants primarily to help defray the cost of airfare to and from Poland.
